Lucknow: In a major push toward digital governance in education, the government of Uttar Pradesh has launched an ambitious initiative under the APAAR+ (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) mission to bring every student onto a unified digital platform. The move aims to ensure that no child is left out of the education system while enabling real-time monitoring of academic progress, attendance, and performance.
Spearheaded under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the initiative introduces a unique digital ID for each student, effectively creating a lifelong academic record. This ID consolidates critical data such as enrollment details, attendance, class progression, examination results, and achievements into a single, secure platform accessible to authorities for monitoring and planning.
63% Target Achieved in Record Time
The statewide campaign, which began on April 11 and will run until June 30, 2026, targets the integration of 4.24 crore students across government, aided, and private institutions. According to official figures, over 2.68 crore students—more than 63 percent of the total target—have already been enrolled under the APAAR+ system.
Government schools have shown the highest progress, with over 82 percent of students already linked to the platform. Aided institutions have recorded 74.84 percent coverage, while private schools stand at 50.54 percent. Other categories have achieved nearly 46.97 percent integration so far.
Officials describe this as a significant milestone in ensuring digital access to one of the largest student populations in the country.
Unified Academic Profile for Every Student
Under the APAAR+ framework, each student’s academic journey is being digitised and securely stored. The system assigns a unique ID linked with Aadhaar, ensuring verified identity and seamless continuity of records—even when a student changes schools.
This integration eliminates the risk of data loss and simplifies academic transitions. More importantly, it allows authorities to track dropout patterns, detect fake enrollments, and ensure that every child remains within the formal education system.
The initiative aligns closely with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, which emphasises data-driven decision-making and improved transparency in education.

Boost to Transparency and Policy Planning
Education officials say the APAAR+ system will transform governance by providing real-time data insights. With accurate and updated student records, policymakers can design targeted interventions, allocate resources efficiently, and improve learning outcomes across districts.
The digital platform is also expected to streamline processes such as scholarship distribution, school transfers, higher education admissions, and even long-term career tracking.
Mission Mode Implementation Accelerates Progress
To ensure rapid rollout, the state government has adopted a mission-mode approach. Key processes such as data verification, Aadhaar seeding, biometric updates, and parental consent have been integrated into a structured workflow.
Special saturation camps are being organised every Saturday to accelerate enrollment, while continuous monitoring at district and block levels ensures accountability and steady progress.
Officials note that this approach has not only improved efficiency but also strengthened administrative responsiveness across the education system.
A Step Toward Inclusive and Accountable Education
The APAAR+ mission marks a significant step in making education in Uttar Pradesh more transparent, inclusive, and trackable. By ensuring that every student is digitally registered and monitored, the government aims to reduce dropout rates and enhance overall educational outcomes.
As the initiative progresses toward full coverage, it is expected to set a benchmark for other states in leveraging technology to reform education systems.
